Are You Clinging to the World… Or Are You Clinging to Jesus?

This morning I’m reading in Zechariah. I never realized how much of the old testament prophecy is about the second coming of Christ. Yet, this is why the Jewish leaders when Jesus came the first time expected a conquering king. They missed the parts about a sacrificed lamb completely.

I’m deeply moved by the final three chapters. He will come back and rule the nations with a rod of iron. All will worship the King who is worthy of all glory and honor.

A question that’s been on my heart daily has been, “If Jesus came for me today, would there be anything keeping me in this world?”

The truth is, there are so many things I have yet I want to accomplish. So many people I want to reach. However, I think it’s important to remember the words of Solomon.

That ultimately, all the works of man are but chasing after the wind. Ecc. 1:14.

But! Our hope is in the Lord. The work that is for Him and His kingdom is eternal. So my prayer is that He will use me for that every day until He returns and that the work I do accomplish before then brings good fruit.
